Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Learning that Works

Career and Technical Education commonly known as CTE, refers to education that combines academic and technical skills with industry knowledge and the training needed to succeed in current and emerging professions. These courses offer students the opportunity to explore and prepare for post-secondary programs at four-year and two-year colleges and technical schools. Students can earn college credit and industry-recognized certifications.

Career and Technical Education provides important pathways to success and offers each student opportunities to personalize his or her education based on their career interests and unique learning needs.

Career and Technical Education courses at the middle school level provide students with the opportunity to begin introductory programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, and health sciences. These introductory classes provide the foundation for additional elective choices in high school. All CTE courses available to BSD students meet the Career and Technical education credit requirements for graduation.

Industry Experts Needed

We’d love to invite you to be part of something special in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program! Our students are eager to learn from real-world experts like you, and there are some exciting ways you could make a big impact.

Getting involved as an Industry Expert lets you:

  • Show students what a career in your field really looks like
  • Share skills needed to succeed in your industry
  • Guide students through a project or challenge to give them hands-on experience

Whether you want to lead a session, join a Q&A, or just stop by for a day, your involvement would mean so much to our students. If this sounds interesting, start by filling out this survey. We’d love to discuss how your expertise could shape our students’ learning and career aspirations!

We have 13 program areas seeking industry experts for the 2024-2025 school year.  To understand the scope and content of our programs, please review our CTE programs and classes.

Thanks for considering joining us—our students will love learning from someone as passionate as you!
